KGF – New Kannada Film Teaser

My Youtube channel commenters were clammering for me to react to this new teaser trailer.  This film KGF, which may stand for Kolar Gold Fields, seems to be a period (80’s) piece.  The film is going to be released in two parts, and released in five languages.  The film is written and directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner Hombale films. It stars Yash and Srinidhi Ramesh Shetty in the lead roles.

It’s really interesting how this teaser shows both some making of clips of scenes that may not be trailer ready, and then a short teaser trailer featuring the star Yash.

I’m super impressed by what I’ve seen so far, and I hope this film does come to Chicago.  The full trailer is due out in February.

Tiger Zinda Hai – Trailer reaction and first song!

I’m so looking forward to Salman Khan’s big Christmas release where he reteams with Katrina Kaif in the sequel Tiger Zinda Hai.  This uses the same real life story as the Malayalam film Take Off (which i still need to see.)

This first song from the film is perfect for Salman, and Katrina gets to show off her moves.  The video was filmed on a Greek Island that is just stunningly gorgeous!  I’ve ben to Santorini, and the islands are really that jaw droppingly beautiful in person.

Padmavati Trailer Released!

At first I was just unabashedly excited about this trailer.  A new Bhansali film is an event.  I didn’t know the historical back story in full.  I didn’t know the tragic ending — should have guessed Bhansali would pick a story with a tragic ending.

Then I read Margaret’s reaction to the trailer, and I saw just how demonic and crazed they are making the Muslim king played by Ranveer.  This film could have been told in a very different way than what this trailer shows us.  I’m very conflicted now.  I can’t miss the problems now that she’s pointed out the issues.  I said Ranveer looks like Rasputin.  And that’s on purpose.

New Solo Teaser – Dulquer Salmaan as Shekar

solo shekar poster

I found this Shekar teaser trailer really interesting.  The look reminds me a bit of Dulquer in Charlie.  We learn the character has a stutter, which I think Dulquer pulls off really well in the small amount of dialogue shown here.

The actress Dhansika who plays Rhadika in this trailer is just stunningly beautiful.  Loved the little bit of their romance shown, and wondering what leads to her tears and him being beat up in the end of the trailer.

Can’t for this film!!

Mahesh Babu SPYDER full trailer released!

Still no subtitles, but Kartik tells me Mahesh is playing the equivalent of an FBI analyst.  The romance track looks so cute!  That boulder shot down the street — THAT I was not expecting.  Hmmm.  I’ll be there first day, first show to see what it’s all about.

Jai Lava Kusa Full Trailer looks Amazing!

This Jr NTR trailer looks really good.  I was loving all the teasers of the three characters he plays in the film, Jai (Raavan type), Lava (the nerd) and Kusa (rowdy hero?), but now this full trailer with subtitles shows me how much humor will be in the film.  So funny!

I also love the indication of the big dance numbers, since NTR is a great dancer.  Also, the fact that the characters are related is NOT a big secret to be revealed as it is in so many other double role Indian films.  That’s refreshing.

I may not be able to see this one the first few days it’s out here in Chicago (it’s out on a Thursday here) and it’s killing me.

So excited to see NTR on the big screen for the first time!

Here’s the trailer with subtitles (which don’t work inside my reaction videos.)

Hindi Trailer Roundup

I am really looking forward to Varun Dhawan in Judwaa 2.  This seems like the perfect kind of comedy for him.

Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi seems like a good fit for Rishi Kapoor, but I’m not familiar with the actor playing his son.

Newton, starring Rajkummar Roa, will be the opening night film for the Chicago South Asian Film Festival.  I’m not going to be able to attend that screening, but Rajkummar will be staying through the weekend and doing a Q&A for his film Trapped.

Saif Ali Khan is remaking Jon Favreau’s Chef.  This is a good fit for him.  I’m going to enjoy seeing Saif as a father onscreen.

Telugu Trailer Roundup

Here’s a roundup of some of the latest Telugu trailers.  I think I’m most looking forward to Chay Akkineini’s newest film.

Rana Daggubati is center in this trailer for what may be a web series.  Looks like a cross between Mr. Robot and Scandal:

Meda Meeda Abbayi:

Mahanubhavudu starring Sharwanand and Mehreen Kaur, directed by Maruthi.  I like this nerdy persona by Sharwanand, an actor new to me.

Paisa Vasool just looks insane.

Ravi Teja in Raja the Great:

I’m also really psyched for Jr. NTR in Jai Lava Kusa.

Rajinikanth and Akshay – Making of 2.0

Rajinikanth’s Enthiran (Robot) was pretty mind-blowing in the imagination.  It’s also very unusual to have a Sci-fi themed Indian film.  I love this first look behind the scenes of 2.0.  We get to see the makeup sessions for Rajinikanth and Akshay (love that look!) and some of the green screen work.

This is a Tamil film I’m looking forward to.  The release date will be in January.

Malayalam Trailer Roundup

With the holiday of Onam, there is a cluster of big releases in Kerala.  There are new releases from Nivin Pauly, Mohanlal and Prithviraj.  Also we’ve had a few teasers now for Solo, Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming film Solo.

Mohzin ( ) reports from Kerala that the Prithviraj and Nivin Pauly films are doing well in Kerala and getting decent reviews, while the Mohanlal is average.  There can be a couple of week delay until we get Malayalam films here in Chicago, but I hope I can catch some of these new films in the theater.

Here is my song reaction to Enthaavo from Nivin Pauly’s Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela.  Enthaavo has been on the top of the Malayalam charts on Saavn.

There’s also been a  trailer and a song from Mohanlal’s Velipadinte Pusthakam.  Mohanal plays the vice principal of a school in the film.

Adam Joan is a new thriller starring Prithviraj.  It seems to have been mostly filmed in Scotland.

And finally, we get another teaser trailer from Dulquer Salmaan — the character Siva from Solo.  I’m not sure we’ve ever seen Dulquer play a gangster like this.
